Premiering Our Faith Leader Vaccine Video!

We are excited to share with you this powerful vaccine message from faith leaders from across WA State and many different faith traditions! Our state is reopening, but we know we will not be safe from COVID-19 until as many people as possible are vaccinated. Please share this video in your faith communities and on social media so we can help reach those who are still uncertain about getting vaccinated. We have been sharing videos from individual faith leaders on our Facebook page, so be sure to check those out as well and share as you can. They are available for viewing or download on our Vaccine Toolkit as well.

C+C and the Department of Health are leading a market research online community (MROC) dedicated to understanding Washingtonian’s thoughts and feelings around COVID-19 communications. They are looking for participants for an ongoing, paid, online research efforts to help form their strategies for COVID-19 and vaccine outreach. See their interest form to learn more or get involved.

We’re hiring!

Help us find our next policy leader for FAN! Please download the Policy Engagement job description and share it widely. Interested candidates can send a resume and cover letter to apply@fanwa.org.

As Faith Action Network celebrates our tenth birthday this year, we continue to move faithfully forward as Co-Director, Rev. Paul Benz retires at the end of 2021 and current Co-Director Elise DeGooyer becomes FAN’s Executive Director. FAN’s public policy work, led by Paul these past 10 years, will continue under the leadership of a Policy Engagement Director, with that search process continuing during the summer.

Tell Gov. Inslee – Clean Cars by 2030

FAN, along with many other organizations, is partnering with Earth Ministry to call Governor Inslee to sign an executive order for Clean Cars by 2030. In the last legislative session, HB 1287 to do just this was passed by the legislature only to be partially vetoed when it got to the governor’s desk. We are calling for Governor Inslee to honor the desire of the legislature and the people by issuing an executive order setting forth this electrification target, which will be necessary to meet the Paris Climate Accord and President Biden’s goal of cutting carbon emissions by 2030. Please join us in signing the petition for Clean Cars by 2030 to show your support!

Help Families Access Their Child Tax Credit

Some families might not realize there is a new tax credit from the American Rescue Plan passed in Congress that will significantly reduce child poverty by distributing monthly cash payments starting July 15. We hope you will consider sharing these resources in your community newsletters or online platforms.  People who have filed taxes in the past two years or received economic stimulus payments will automatically receive the Child Tax Credit. Others who don’t file or are ITIN filers may not know they are eligible to register–if they have children 18 and under with social security numbers, and even if they have zero income. Receiving the Child Tax Credit won’t affect any other federally funded benefits.

Please help them know they can register now to receive this important cash benefit. Share the Child Tax Credit portal at www.childtaxcredit.gov.
