Join the Washington League of Women Voters tomorrow, August 8, for a day of action to honor those who mobilized for voting rights throughout our country’s history and to demonstrate the power of communities doing so now.

  • The current attempts to keep eligible Americans from voting through federal interference, voter intimidation, and false anti-immigrant claims of non-citizen voting
  • Non-partisan ways you can engage your faith community in the electoral process, including ballot initiatives, and supporting free and democratic elections
  • Example programming and actions that your faith community can take to uplift and make visible the sacred right of voting and our shared values of democracy and voice

Sign to Halt the Expansion of Surveillance

The ACLU is urging advocacy action to stop a new bill from passing the Senate. The Combating Organized Retail Crime Act (CORCA), which has passed the House, is being introduced under the guise of “fighting shoplifting.” “In reality, however,” the ACLU writes, “it quietly hands the federal government broad authority to install new tech that helps them collect and share personal data of anyone who happens to be shopping in a strip mall or picking up groceries for their family. This is a massive expansion of the surveillance state and will only feed into the Trump administration’s cruel deportation campaign.”
