IFAD 2019 was cancelled due to snow, but there was plenty of work to do in the 2019 Legislative session!

We missed seeing the FAN community in action at IFAD, since it was cancelled due to snow/ice conditions. While there was time left in the State Legislative Session, we invited small groups to consider coming to the Capitol to raise their voices. From Housing and Homelessness Advocacy Day on February 28 to the Equity Rally on the Capitol steps to Latino Advocacy Day and Abolish The Death Penalty Lobby Day on March 18, and Jewish Community Lobby Day on March 26, FAN advocates showed up to speak to legislators, contributing to our 40 wins this session!

FAN staff is often on the ground in Olympia during the week and can connect with advocates there. We can also coordinate groups to attend scheduled hearings in Olympia with the possibility for literature drops at legislative offices. And every week we provided action alerts on issues where our voices needed to be heard. Thanks to all who hosted “Take 5 for Advocacy” tables in your communities to get the community connected to their legislators about issues relevant to their local areas.

Together we will continue to raise the issues in Olympia and beyond!
