Call the Governor to end ICE access to DOL data

The University of Washington Center for Human Rights has verified 298 cases in which immigration arrests occurred following federal agents’ searches of Washington license plate numbers through Nlets. This ongoing access goes against the intent of the Governor’s previous order barring ICE from accessing DOL data.

Tell the Governor to immediately end federal immigration agents’ access to Washington DOL driver and license plate data for civil immigration enforcement.

TAKE 2 MINUTES MAKE ONE CALL CALL GOVERNOR FERGUSON

360-902-4111

You can use and adapt this simple script:

“I’m calling to ask Governor Ferguson to immediately end federal immigration agents’ access to Washington DOL driver and license plate data for civil immigration enforcement.

Allowing federal immigration agents to continue accessing this information runs counter to the intent of the Governor’s previous order barring ICE from accessing DOL data.

Washington should not continue providing federal immigration agents with another route to access this information.

I join immigrant rights advocates and community members across Washington, including the Thurston Immigrant Solidarity League, in calling for an end to this access.

Governor Ferguson has the authority to end it, and I’m asking him to act now.

I stand with my immigrant neighbors. ”

FAN in the News

This Tuesday in Spokane, Faith Leaders from 3 different counties in Washington gathered one month ahead of the election to encourage Washingtonians to vote early. Faith Action Network helped support the press conference in which faith leaders highlighted the transparency and security of Washington’s vote-by-mail system and called out federal attempts to block or change mail-in voting as attempts to manipulate and distort our free and democratic elections. Venerable Thubten Monlam said, “Encourage your family, friends, and everyone who’s eligible to register and to vote. And no matter what you believe in — the spiritual tradition or simply the goodness of people — let’s make our voices heard and speak up for the importance of ethical leadership, including the carrying out of free and fair elections.”

You can register to vote and update your voter registration online up until October 26. Ballots will be mailed out beginning October 16. Rural voters are especially advised to return their ballot early to avoid postmarking delays. You can return your ballot at one of the many drop boxes in your county. Join FAN in Vote Early Weekend on October 23-24 by turning your ballot in early!
