Federal Advocacy Alert: Call TODAY!

Thank you to all of the FAN Advocates who have been calling and writing Rep. Newhouse this spring to urge him to “Invest in our communities, not Mass Deportations!”
The Reconciliation bill to provide an additional $70 billion for ICE/CBP passed the Senate last week and will be coming to the floor for the a vote in the House as soon as this afternoon. Rep. Newhouse has consistently supported funding for the Department of Homeland Security that oversees ICE and CBP, but he has not made a public statement on how he plans to vote on this Reconciliation Bill.
As people of faith and conscience, we are grounded in our belief in the sacred dignity of each person, and these agencies have demonstrated flagrant and systemic abuses of human and civil rights.
Join us in calling Rep. Newhouse’s DC office TODAY at (202) 225-5816 to urge him to vote NO on the Reconciliation Bill to fund ICE/CBP! Use the script below as a guide and add your own message about the values, beliefs, and/or experiences that motivate you to oppose funding for mass deportations. Together, we will continue to fight for our communities!

- My name is ____________ and I am a 4th District constituent living in _______________ and a member of ___________ faith community/Faith Action Network.
- I am calling to urge Rep. Newhouse to vote NO on the Reconciliation bill that gives $70 Billion in funding for ICE and CBP.
- These agencies have caused great harm in our district, and their violent and unaccountable actions are an affront to our shared human dignity.
- At the same time, federal cuts to SNAP and Medicaid have caused working families in our district to struggle with increased costs of healthcare and food.
- We need Rep. Newhouse to fight for real investments in our district, NOT funding for agencies that are doing harm. I urge Rep. Newhouse to vote NO on the Reconciliation bill!
