As we mourn the murder of Renee Nicole Good by ICE this week, we remember that 2025 was the deadliest year for community members in ICE custody since 2004 and that at least 9 immigrants have been killed during ICE/CBP apprehensions this year alone. These actions are not isolated, but a systemic affront to our interconnected human dignity.
As people of faith and conscience, we will not stand by as this horrific violence continues. Across our diverse faiths, we are taught that every person is worthy, that community matters, and that we are called to stand with one another. We all want the freedom to thrive, to profess our faith safely in our communities, to give our families a better life, to grow old with dignity, and to receive the care we need.
