Yakima: Defending Against Deportation
Community Listening and Mobilization

January 11, 2025
12:00-4:00 pm

Filipino Community Hall
211 W 2nd St, Wapato
Lunch provided at noon.
Spanish interpretation services available.

With the threat of mass deportation announced by the incoming federal administration, Between the Ridges: Alliance for the Common Good, Yakima Immigrant Response Network, Asian Pacific Islander Coalition, ELLA, and Poder Latinx are co-sponsoring this event to listen to community concerns and begin to mobilize our community response. We hope to reactivate networks and vital resources we have used in the past, identify needs and new strategies that will shape our work, and get commitments for action in the coming year.

Please plan to join us on January 11th and feel free to invite colleagues that you think may be interested. Be prepared to share stories from your community of the concerns and fears they are experiencing.

RSVP or Questions? Visit the Yakima Immigrant Response Network website.

Deportation Defense with WAISN

Our coalition partner, Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN) has created an excellent resource — Four Deportation Defense Actions You Can Take Today that highlights important steps we can take now to protect and advance immigrant rights in light of the incoming federal administration. We encourage you to print the flyer and share it with your faith community so that more people can get involved.

If your faith community has a public resource area, you can also post WAISN’s Deportation Defense Hotline flyer as well as their Know Your Rights with ICE flyers, which are available in English, Spanish, French, Lingala, Portuguese, and Somali.

If you would like to get involved in WAISN’s Rapid Response, you can learn more here and register for their next online training that will be held on Saturday, January 25 (12-2 PM) over zoom.

Members of immigrant and refugee communities are also encouraged to attend WAISN’s Know Your Rights with ICE trainings. You can learn more here and register for their next online training on January 8 (6-8 PM) over zoom.
