Yakima Immigrant Response: ICE Air Flights Witness
February 25 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
We have just been informed of another ICE Air flight scheduled to arrive next Tuesday, February 25, at 9:10 AM.
CHECK YOUR EMAIL before you come on – the morning of the flight: We will check the flight schedules again that morning after takeoff and send a second email if the ETA has changed dramatically (+/- 20 minutes).
The public viewing area is located in the Airport Maintenance Shop located at 3106 W Washington Ave, Yakima, WA 98903 – Google Map Directions
Park inside the fence and walk down towards the airfield. Parking is limited, so please carpool whenever possible. A few cars each can park at nearby retail facilities – Yakima Lock & Key or FedEx, but we have been asked not to fill up all the retail parking spaces in nearby parking lots.
The transfer of detainees from plane to bus or bus to plane usually takes around 1 to 1 1/2 hours, dependent on the number of detainees and other factors.
The City of Yakima has provided us this viewing space and we ask that all observers treat airport staff politely, if they have to remind you of the city’s requests: for example, parking in allocated spaces only, no banners/signs on the fence, stay within the designated area. The public does not have access to the airport buildings to use the bathroom. We are viewing from inside a working airport facility which falls under strict FAA regulations for security, so we need to be conscious of those restrictions for our safety and the safety of the airport workers.
If this is your first flight, please read the safety guidelines here.
