Last December, last September, and last March, young people from across Tacoma took to the streets to make their voices heard. And through all the signs and chants, the demand was clear: we want a Green New Deal. We can’t keep putting climate change on the back burner, and it’s time for people in power to step up.
Now for Earth Day 2020, join us virtually for Tacoma’s biggest climate strike yet, powered by young people. While we honor the COVID-19 stay-at-home order, let’s make the most of this moment together and keep on growing this movement!
On April 22 from 3-6pm, our virtual strike will feature 3 separate Power Hours around Social, Economic, and Environmental Justice. We’ll learn how a Green New Deal would transform society for the better, hear from local members of the community, and take actions together to demand it.
A Green New Deal coupled with a people’s bailout would rework the levers of power to benefit the many, not the rich few, and allow us to rise out of this public health crisis bruised but ultimately stronger. Medicare for All including paid family sick leave and full healthcare coverage would empower our communities to prioritize their health and still make ends meet.
