Climate Crisis: A Call to Action

A workshop providing a hopeful alternative to depressing news about the climate. We are showing people things that they can do today to help save the planet. We are reaching out to people who feel ready to take action and want to engage in dialogue about how to move forward.

The day begins with a panel discussion with Andrea Axel of Spark Northwest, Jill Mangaliman of Got Green, Eileen Quigley of Clean Energy Transition Institute, and Andrea Rodgers of Our Children’s Trust (Juliana v. U.S.). This shared session is followed by five concurrent breakout sessions addressing:

– 2020 Visions for a Clean Energy Future – Speakers: Jill Eikenhorst, Spark Northwest; Bill Moyer, Solutionary Rail.

– State and Local Climate Action: Getting Plugged In – Speakers: Joe Fitzgibbons, State Rep. 34th District & Chair of the House Environment and Energy Committee; Court Olson & Keith Ervin, People for Climate Action (King County and Seattle)

– Reducing Your Carbon Footprint – Speakers: Dr. Cynthia Ervin (testimonial); Robin Briggs, co-creator of taming-bigfoot.org calculator

– Climate Activists Speak, What They Can Teach Us – Speakers: Michael Foster, Valve Turner activist; Stacy Oakes, 350 Seattle; Caroline Heege, youth activist.

– Climate Change Grief and Anxiety – Speakers: Andrew Bryant, MSW, MPH, clinical social worker, Climate and Mind; Sue Lenander, Climate Action Families.

Lunch Intermission:
Time for networking, checking out the bookstore, various resource tables
Free Lunch (available to the first 100 registrants; gluten-free and vegan options available; donations welcome)
