Civil Rights Shabbat
January 17 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm
As part of the evolving bond between the Temple De Hirsch Sinai and the First AME communities, we have, over the last few years, shared the MLK weekend, and a Passover Freedom Seder in the Spring.
Particularly in light of the current climate of hate and violence, and most specifically the recent events in New York that have provided fodder for those who wish to divide the African American and Jewish communities, this year’s celebration of Dr. King’s legacy takes on added significance. And so, we are hoping to broaden the scope of this year’s commemoration to encompass the wider Jewish and African American communities. Knowing that each of you have your own Friday night and Sunday morning worship experiences, we still would like to invite you and your communities to join us on January 17 and 19. Whether you are able to attend in person or not, we hope that you will share this with your communities.
If you are able to join us in person for either date, please let us know.
Blessings in the New Year,
Danny Weiner and Carey Anderson
