As you might be aware, Congressional Republicans have come up with a plan that would undermine Medicaid, Medicare and the Affordable Care Act as we know it, with extreme cuts in funding to all states. The proposed AHCA would end our country’s responsibility to ensure healthcare for children, seniors, and people with disabilities who can least afford it. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that if passed, 14 million people would lose health insurance by 2018 and 24 million would lose it in the next decade. It would mean the end of the expansion of Medicaid that provides health coverage to millions of working people earning low-to-moderate-incomes.
FAN’s Healthcare Working Group has partnered with the Healthcare is a Human Right Expanded Coalition, a coalition of many organizations dedicated to defending the Affordable Care Act. FAN has committed to connecting people in our network with this effort.
