WHEEL Women in Black Vigil

December 6, 2017 @ 12:00 PM

From an early release of a new list of homeless deaths from King County Medical Examiners and Health Care for the Homeless–just for November 1-26, 2017–Women in Black have learned of NINE additional outdoor/violent homeless deaths in our community.  With these deaths, the 2017 outdoor/violent death count—at 87 —far outstrips the number of deaths during any other calendar year.

We cannot afford to lose a single shelter bed in our community.  Without shelter, people die.  At NOON next Wednesday, December 6th, outside the Seattle Justice Center (5th/Cherry) we will stand to honor these not-forgotten people:

**Patrick Power, 37, died on 11/5 of blunt force injuries (hit by car in intersection?) in Auburn.

**Robert Kiffe, 46, died of hypothermia on 11/6 at 2808 Madison.

**Alejandro Ruiz, 56, terribly burned in fire in Wenatchee; died at Harborview of burns on 11/10.

**Fred Webster, 64, died of natural causes at SW 106th on 11/10.

**William Baggett, 35, died in Federal Way on 11/11; cause pending.

**Matthew Murrell, 28, died of natural causes on NE 112th on 11/16.

**Daniel Jeffrey, 54, died on N 115th of unknown cause on 11/17.

**Tony Schmid, 59, died in West Seattle (outdoors) by suicide on 11/21

**Thomas Slade, 60, died of anoxic encephalopathy at 801 Alaskan Way (pier) on 11/22.
